I read a review on gog that downloading the game from Galaxy vs. the web, makes the game playable. If you download it from the web, it has a tendency to crash, not play. Anyone download it from Galaxy and still have problems?

I'm interested in purchasing these old warhammer classics, but getting a broken game isn't worth it.
Downloading from Galaxy, I get nothing; as in, I click on 'Play' and nothing happens at all.

People say it crashed at 'prepare for battle' are lucky, they get to actually get in the game....

I downloaded it from Galaxy first and it freezes on prepare to battle screen. I then uninstalled and installed through the web and the same thing. I don't think it matters much as far as I can tell.
Yes, the freezing problem can occur both with the web and the galaxy files (which should be the same when installed).
The freeze bug is probably independent from that. In my case

Win 8.1 64 bit --> game freezes
Win 10 upgraded from Win 8.1 --> game freezes
Win 10 clean install --> game plays fine.

So yeah, the game might run or it mightn't. You could always try out and then ask for a refund, or try a non-legit version first...
