NeechB: I was having the same problem. Splash screen of a Warhammer for a few seconds then the launch would crash.

I downloaded dgvoodoo as per this thread and followed the instructions. Now I can launch the game but I am having onw issue that I need help with.

My mouse cursor in game is off. I need to move it lower than where I want to click in order for it align properly.

Can someone please help me fix this?
Same here :(
Mouse Cursor Misalignment Issue Update.

1. General Tab / Appearance / Scaling Mode
a) Unspecified to Centered/Stretched, Keep Aspect Ratio - Mouse Cursor In-Game Aligns BUT

Looks correct / Game Window fits my monitor perfectly

1. I can move mouse cursor upwards off screen.
2. I cannot move mouse cursor downwards to the bottom of my screen - Stops about 1/3 of the monitor size away from the bottom as if there was a border there.

I have tried to force every resolution and my mouse cursor in game disappears even if I check/uncheck capture mouse.

I have tried every graphics card available. Only SVGA doesnt run the game.

Turned off Antialiasing.

That is as far I got. If anyone has better luck than me with this can you please post it here.

Thank you for the efforts people!

Apologies, but I wish I could help more. It may require someone who is more knowledgeable in dgVoodoo.

The only other thing I can think of is the fundamentally wrong .dll file in context to your system/monitor is installed. To test this, you can try the other .dll files (though apparently any 64 bit system should be able to run 32/86 bit program). Perhaps try the x64 .dll version of DirectX from the "MS" file and try that. Also, perhaps try the Glide .dll files from the 3Dfx file and try running it with Glide instead of DirectX. There is also the two readme's and the QuickGuide that can perhaps help with this as well.

Other totally random resolution/screen options you could try, though I have no idea if this will help, are:
in General tab:
"Scaling mode"
"Keep window aspect ratio"
Maybe uncheck "Inherit Color Profile in screen mode" (what I believe fixed my problem)
Try windowed mode
Output API?
in DirectX tab:
uncheck "Application controlled fullscreen/windowed state"
mess with the miscellanneous check boxes

I know that's pretty broad and random, but the one thing I've learned from running, emulating, and modding older games is that you never know what is causing/will fix the issue - as well as things that fix someone's issue may cause your issue. I also don't possess much technical knowledge of how this works, what software/hardware runs what games and such, so most of my success regarding game manipulation is brute force, trial/error, YouTube videos, and forums.

I wish I could help more. Hope it works out for you. Worst case scenario is a refund, especially with GOG's new 30 day refund policy, but this gives you some time to mess with the settings. Let us know if any of these help or not.

I think I tried every single possible set-up for dgvoodoo, there is no fix for the cursor issue. Any other idea?

TheAlbinoWookiee: So two other people posted this in another thread, and I'm going to repost in it's own thread.
So the game's got a slight issue with integrated graphics cards, where it'll have a splash come up, disappear, then not start up. Apparently it takes it ten ish minutes to start up, but will do it eventually. So here's how to fix it:

1. Open your NVIDIA Control Panel
2. Go to Manage 3D Settings
3. Set Preferred Graphics Processor to "High Performance NVIDIA Processor"
4. Click Apply
5. Give it a test

If it works, great! Enjoy the game!
If not there might be another issue and you might have to wait and see if someone figures out a fix for your particular problem.

Have fun all!
Thank you! The game would not boot up before but this was an instant fix. I do still have some issues with the screen freezing at the start of every mission (although Ctrl+Alt+Deleting out and than going straight back in does fix that).

Beyond what I've stated, I do not have the technical skills to instruct any further. My attempts have worked most likely out of sheer luck and the computer that I have. I am sorry it is not working for you, but perhaps in the future someone more knowledgeable will have a fix.

Thanks for your help, I managed to start the game tanks to your advice. Unfortunately, if I don't find a fix for the mouse I'll have to wait until I get my hands on another PC and try to install it there (my laptop is definitely not for gaming).

Glad I could help, though of no avail.

But I do believe GOG now has a 30 day refund policy. If you contact their support system you'll most likely receive a refund in time.
I was not able to replicate the error with the mouse, so my suggestions are purely hypothetical.
Reading about invisible borders it sounds to mee as if the mouse input comes from a lower resolution than the image output.

I tried the (cracked, since the copy protection won't work anymore) DVD version 1.72 of the game without dgVoodoo2 and it worked just fine. With dgVoodoo2 (for some graphic tweaks) I also didn't encounter any errors. I use the "dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerator Card" with 1024MB VRAM for rendering, but also 256 MB worked fine, disabled DX passthrough. "Center app Window" is disabled, "Capture mouse" enabled. Scaling mode is set to "Centered, keep aspect ratio"

If your graphic card supports DSR (dynamic super resolution) or whatever AMD calls it (rendering the image at a higher resolution, then scale it down for antialiasing), DISABLE it.

Ingame and also in dgVoodoo do not select a resolution in game that is higher than your display can handle. Some graphic cards may scale down the image to fit it to your monitor, but the mouse input will still be the one of your display device.
In my case I set the ingame resolution to my monitor's native 1920x1080 resolution and did not force dgVoodoo2 to change it.

Also try the windowed mode, just for the sake of it. In the past that helped with similar mouse/focus problems.
hey guys reading through these have tried most

windows 7 64 bit nvidia

square box with the hammer pops up then nothing back to the start saying play game any other recommendations ???

i have emailed gog support team now two days waitng

I'm trying to use your fix with dgVoodoo. The problem I am having is that the cursor will not work correctly. I tried changing the game's setting (1280 x 1024) to match my desktop's resolution settings (1366 x 768), but the cursor problem is preventing me from clicking the "Okay" button to confirm the changes. I tried changing my desktop's resolution to that of the game's default setting, but my monitor doesn't support 1280 x 1024 (the setting doesn't exist in the drop down selections to change the display resolution).

Edit: 1024 not 1040

It was worth a try :)
It doesn't have to be the desktop resolution btw, I would go for the native screen resolution.
I'd really like to get my brains to work and figure out how to fix it, but since I can't even GET the error, it's a no go.

But now that I think of it ... ... my mainboard hads AMD onboard graphics, maybe I can replicate it using that adapter.
