Can't get my WC2 BNE to go online... tried the ports and still nothing

The game works fine for me right now, I will be playing online and streaming the game at around 7pm UTC today :-)

Hi there in order to connect to battle.net you need to get and install the patch 2.02 for your game. GOG has it by default normally but if you are using an old CD you may have to browse the internet to find it.
Once patched you will also need to add the gateway to the Global gateway people play on :-)

I am on WC2 Bnet version 2.02, managed through gog galaxy, and it isn't working for me. It says "Reinstall Required", there is a new version..... uninstall and reinstall with the installer from battle.net".

Any ideas? My bro also has the need to play some WC2 and relive our childhood.

If you install via GOG Galaxy, Steam, BitTorrent\P2P or any else with files verify functions - do validate them. At least twice.
If this is offline or validating dint help - somethig corrupt game build after installation\verify process/ You you choose wrong item in Launcher - choose Classic non- Enchanced version to play Bnet. For Enchantment - playing over IPX\Lan (\GameRanger, i guess) is only possible.

I am choosing Warcraft 2 (Classic) on the launch menu, then multiplayer > Enhanced > Battle.net
The Classic> Classic > Name OK> mode doesn't allow me to open Battle.net.

Would there be something stopping me from seeing battle.net in classic mode? I guess that could be an issue if Battle.net is looking at the WC2 game and seeing that it's the enhanced visual version, they wouldn't let me connect, but how do you do it under the classic > classic?

No idea why, but uninstalled, reinstalled and I'm good to go. I even changed settings again to what I had my video set to and it worked fine. A bit annoying. but what can you do?

First try to verify and repair the install.
Lastly uninstall and reinstall, hope that fixes it.

If this is Galaxy, you should do verify. Especially if you reinstall. For that kind of clients reinstalling not solve problems (well, maybe for extra non needed files, nothing else).

Offline - yes, reinstall should help.

To play on Bnet you do right: Classic in launcher - Online - Enchancent - Bnet - Global server (old ones still accessible if edit win registry or remove HKCU warcraft entry and let game reset).

Something corrupted in game client. And verify process for Galaxy is already reinstalling. Current GOG Galaxy always redowload something and re-do installing process that it do at the end of game downloading. For each game for each validating process.

I dont know, is this error can appear because of something else than not-valid exe or some bnet files...? If not, error text clearly say something wrong with game client.
No idea why it happened. Only i can suggest is installing retail cd patch 2.0 above newest GOG's 2.0.2.1 build.

Is it broken again or is it just me? Contacted Blizzard support as per GOG's recommendation and they told me to make sure my CD key is correct (it is) and that ports are forwarded (they are), I still get an error about my game being out of date and unable to patch. Verified install, uninstalled/reinstalled, still the same issue.

Verify should fix issue. Twice in a row cause Galaxy nor reposrt what client redownlaod.

Bnet is working. At first it once show port error, but never appear agan for me.

But fo version mismatch\corrupted version - its some 3rd party patches and mods. Do nto install 2.02 update widescreen mod or anything.

This error also can from trying to connect from CD version to Global server or from GOG version to older Bnet East+West US +EU +Asia servers. Trying to connect to older servers Bnet try to downgrade game client and broke it.
Repair game files (twice) should fix it.

Verified twice, uninstalled NordVPN and Wireguard then rebooted, tethered to my phone, still not working. No mods installed. This is a fresh install of Warcraft II with correct cd-key and ports forwarded being unable to get online.

I just looked, apparently I should have the option of "Global" for a Bnet server from the dropdown list? I have US West/East, Asia and Europe. The cracked version of the game connects fine.

SOLVED. I had to install it through the site downloader, not GOG Galaxy. Global appears as the only option (no more US West/East Asia and Europe) and it connects no problem.

Hmm... GOG Galaxy should put it to or put again to winregistry when verifies game...
or you can do it manually

Look at HKCU. So if there is more users on PC - it should be done for all of them.
And this one reg listed only official servers. For war2ru(or else) one string should be cnahged (in text view 1000/5/... 5 is for how many servers should be on dropdown menu in the game) and they should be added additnally to that.

Found on Blizzard forums thread where someone from here (i guess) report same issue.
And in latest posts someone admit he install un-official warez repack version.

So its issue come from wrong installation order for both. And some lamo actions from users. Both versions been installed (one or another or both) remove old 4 servers from list. They can be installed both on same machine, with some configuring (officail servers listed in my reg-file text post above). Only one of two servers will be listed, or combined by gateway editor from war2ru, but never happen that old 4 servers are remain. Something prevent normal HKCU registry editing.

Reinstall+verify in GOG Galaxy will fix this even if it already broken by all this installation process.
Or reistallation from offline.

Unofficial version require gateway editing.Dowload reg-file from wa2ru edit it and apply to WinRegistry.
