I know very little about game controllers for the PC.
Can anybody please tell me which one might the best to buy?
I am interested in the most popular one. But also works well in this particular game and others.

Well, I use the Xbox 360 controller (Xinput) and it works just fine for this game and many others, Granted, I wish it had some of the finer controls of an SNES-style controller because those work best for 2d platformers like Volgarr.

gavbloodworth: Xbox 360 controller purchased! From ebay and free shipping too. Looking forward to playing this game using it. This makes me think of the times I played Zelda II: The Adventure of Link on my old Nintendo ;)
Make sure to get some padding for your thumbs or something because mine hurt after a 2 hour Volgarr session :D
