the game crashes everytime i try to get to vienna through east gate. anyone else?

I'm not that far into the game yet, but there are a couple of threads with this problem.

When going to Vienna or back to Prague, before clicking on the gate:
hit Esc (to pause the game), alt+tab (to switch out of the game), backup your savegames and clean the SaveGames folder (leave nothing in it). Alt+tab back to the game, click on the gate: it works!
