Tetran31: Yes, it does. I just tested it same error. Repeating music and all.
Thank you very much in advance for trying though.
It's a Source game and there is a lot of cool stuff that can be applied through /cfg/autoexec.cfg ;) Thank you very much in advance for trying though.
If you're not scared of it you can try fiddling with it in the meantime
(for example disabling audio completely to test if problem might be there)
but always make a backup >.>

Unfortunately, it runs on my notebook without hitch :(
So let's go through some basics:
- do you have any special software running in the background? (Raptr, NVExperience, EVGA Overlay etc - basically anything related to DirectX overlay / screen capturing)
if so, close ^ any of those and as much of unnecessary background applications as possible

Also to add to that - do you have one screen or more?

korell: Out of interest, do the driver profiles hang around then? I thought they were all reset when you install a new driver version?
Only if you force a clean install and most people just update the drivers. For future reference:
when facing such problem an easiest way is to change .exe name to anything else (just adding an '_' wil do) and then try to run it. Any compatibilities / profiles won't be applied to the different filename and it might help to hunt down the culprit ;)
