I guess there are some issues with the game with some integrated systems like Intel HD 4000. I did not realize I was enjoying some immunity to the problem until I let windows nag me into doing the 8.1 upgrade. Most stuff I find has people trying some beta through steam which is obviously not a fix here.

I'm guessing 8.1 isn't officially supported, nor I guess the GPU, but I thought I'd mention it if someone happened to be thinking of doing a belated 8.1 upgrade.
