I am unable to change the brightness of the game in Direct3D mode. It is way too dark, despite changing the option of brightness in the menu, nothing happens.
It works in the software mode.
Any solutions for this? Thanks!

I got this on Steam, maybe it will help someone too:

"zed64*RUS* has Unreal Gold 2 Nov @ 11:40pm
First try to install the oldunreal patch. This will upgrade some graphical libraries for the client.
/www oldunreal com / oldunrealpatches.html
If it not works, search for Unreal.ini -> [WinDrv.WindowsClient] -> Brightness
Otherwise is a driver problem."
