I have a problem playing Unreal 2: I'm on a notebook with a trackpad and no mouse. After installation I discovered to my horror that turning is only possible using the trackpad, not the keyboard, and while trackpads are good for a lot of things, playing shooter games is not one of them (you have to switch between turning and shooting, with often fatal-delay-results).
I've tried turning on MouseKeys (use the numerical keyboard to control the pointer in XP) but it doesn't work in-game.
Any suggestions?

PC shooters are much better with mouse and keyboard, and if you try to use a keyboard for turning you'll either get a constant turn speed or a set acceleration of turn speed. Both are not good for shooters unless you have some autoaim on.
Being as Unreal 2 is what I would call a modern shooter (as opposed to the days of Doom and Quake which were created with sole keyboard control options - though you can have them working with mouse and keyboard too) you really ought to use a mouse and keyboard.
The advice I give is to get a USB mouse connected up. It doesn't have to be a fancy mouse, or even an optical one at that. A basic mouse won't cost much at all. If that's not an option on your notebook then it's probably not really designed for such games.

Well, I guess you put your finger on it - I haven't played shooters since those heady days :) I was just browsing the site and felt an urge... I dunno, I guess I'll have a look next time i'm in a dollar store,,,
