So I got the quest to save this Coldax. I got into the door, kills a bunch of fire-spewing helmet and two flame elementals, then what? When I press enter at the fire, it doesn't do anything...

In the room with a cauldron destroy the right wall with any weapon, you will find a lever there. A new platform directly below the cauldron will appear and you will be able to get dying Coldax from there
