This is a problem I have. I can't seem to find a way to load a saved gamed while playing. So I have to exit the game and start over to load a saved game. Is there a way to load a saved game from while playing?

You haven't found a way because you can't. 6 was the first Ultima to have that option.

But look on the bright side. When the game was new you had to restart your computer to 'reload'.

Well actually with 4 and the patch you could use ALT R to reload a saved game. If you did have the patch you are correct.
