I put all the files in the right folders but they don't seem to do anything

I also can't get any of the games to look the way they do in this screenshot

the only Ultima that will look like that is Ultima I all the other ultima's uses different tilesets

have you tried using galaxy it should update your games automatically (unless you set it not to for a specific game)
not that i'm seeing any patches for the ultima games i own here (i'm only missing 8 and 9 )

Hey there! If you're running into installation problems with the upgrade patches I recommend using Pix's Ultima Patcher, which makes the installation process a lot easier: http://www.pixsoriginadventures.co.uk/ultima-patcher-1-61/
