So I decided to stash all my gold instead of hauling it around everywhere and put everything in the same pile. Now I have two piles of 7000+ gold and I cant pick it up since it's too heavy. Am I totally missing which button to press? Isn't there any way of seperating it? Tried with Dupre (who now has 29 strength) carrying nothing and he can't pick it up. I can move it but not pick it up. Pretty stupid to be able to put tons of gold in one pile but not be able to pick up any amount of it.

You can break it up when in your inventory. But starting a new game and playing around with the starting gold, I have not yet seen a way to break it up outside of your inventory.

Yeah I suspected there was no way of doing it. However I have since finished the game anyway, cheated my way to get some extra gold. Of course I would never have been able to spend all the gold I had anyway.
