I just spent hours creating a map in the editor and upon saving into the “MAPS” folder and then opening up the game I couldn’t not find in in Single player “which I set the map up as”. Come to find when I went back to the editor to see what I may have missed, it couldn’t open.. giving me an error message saying it wasn’t the right type of file. I took a look at the file in the folder and now it also shows as ‘0KB’ in size...

Dunno if anyone else has run into this.. but I’d love to know if there is a fix or if I just wasted hours for nothing.

This is only a guess but that sounds like a permissions problem. Try running the Tzar Editor in admin mode.
