I have one major issue that I find fairly consistently with some RPG games (PoE being the prime example here since it was this company's game) with the way companions are done. In PoE I remember that gathering the companions immidiately and before doing anything else was fairly essential to building a cohesive party because the Devs took it upon themselves to level them in ways that baffled and ruined any strategy I might have had.
So, to the point, does Tyranny do this same thing with them? This is truly a make-or-break deal for me, if it does this in any sort of way I don't want any part of this game.

When you start a game (or was it in the options?) you have the option to let the AI auto level them up or do it yourself. As for how they react/level up, I don't know yet, just started it.
So there is an option for the game to autolevel your companions, but if you haven't recruited them yet (I don't actually know if this is how the game works, just going off norms here), when you do get them, they will be at your level (roughly) and you can distribute any skills and such completely on your own?

I don't know man, I just bought the game lol.
Check this forum, I have started a Let's Play. In the second episode you will see how I acquire my first companion.

Companions are at your level (roughly) when you recruit them; however, if you have auto-level off, you will immediately be able to assign all skills/points/etc. to them yourself relevant for that level (i.e. you determine everything - they don't auto-level before you meet them if that makes sense).

I don't understand the PoE reference. Sure, the companions in that game aren't built very well, but you have the option to create your own customized NPCs at any inn right from the start of the game. So you can easily build a cohesive party even if you don't like some of the NPCs.

As for Tyranny, there is a lot less customization than in PoE, it's just 1 stat point and 1 ability point to put into either of the companion's custom skill tree, so it's not like even auto-levelling could ruin an NPC the way it could in PoE.

Also, couldn't you restat any of your characters for a price in PoE ? At the Inn or something like that?
