I'm considering giving this game a try but was bothered in its cousin Pillars of Eternity 2 by endlessly-accumulating autosaves at every area transition. Can someone who has played please tell whether Tyranny offers the option of disabling them?

I didn't find a way to disable autosaves.
Tyranny uses 4 autosave-slots, meaning you will never have more than 4 autosaves per character.
But that's also how it worked in Pillars of Eternity, so I'm not sure what you mean by endlessly-accumulating.

My mistake--more like endlessly-recurring. At any rate I don't relish waiting for unwanted saves at every area transition. Puzzling to me that these developers keep making them mandatory.
