This is more vanity than anything else, but once you retire a character, apart from the heirloom thing, is there anywhere to see the retired character, their stats, whatever? I guess what I mean to ask is, is there a "hall of heroes" or "trophy room" or anything of that ilk?

You'll still be able to see them on the character selection screen, so you can see their level and their appearance when you retired them, but they'll be ghosty-looking. Other than that, nope. Personally I find that kinda annoying, so I usually either back up the save to before I retired it, or delete it completely.
