Hi all.

I snagged the GOG version of Torchlight 2 after seeing there was a linux version (super excited about this), but hit my first snag when trying to transfer my characters from my Windows version of the game running under Wine.

I have copied my "My Games/Runic Games/Torchlight 2/save" directory (only save dir - not the whole thing) to "~/.local/share/Runic Games/Torchlight 2" but none of my characters appear and there is only the option to start a new game. In another attempt I had also tried to copy the complete Runic Games setting directory, but during that test, the game wouldn't load.

My Windows version of TL2 was bought directly from Runic (not Steam or anything), version 1.25.5.2. The GOG version is showing 1.25.9.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Try opening up the saves in the GOG Windows version and if they open up then try to make a save with the GOG Windows version of the game and then try transferring those saves to the GOG Linux version.
Hi.

Thank you for the response!

I gave this a try and it did not work. With the GOG Windows version, my saves do not seem to be recognized. I tried just the save folder initially and then the whole configuration as before (game does load with the config this time) I tried looking for any meaningful type of log messages but didn't see anything.
I figured it out. It was staring me in the face the entire time.

My original Windows version, under the save directory, had all of my savegames in this numerical directory. The GOG versions did not seem to have this. Once I put the save files directly into save and not "save/90071992547409920" the characters appeared. I was simply rsync-ing my save directory over and thus preserving the numerical directory that the GOG version didn't recognize, which is why it wasn't working before.

Thanks for the help.
