I've hit every key on the keyboard and can't seem to open the map or access the command tent. What is going on?

Are you on the second map(aedirn)? If you are, you probably just went through a story event and the buttons/shortcuts to access the tent and map have suddenly disappeared. Fret not, just continue up the path and you will get into another story battle. Upon completion of it, you will regain access to the aforementioned options. Weird decision to take away it though IMO.

If you are on the first map, then you need to progress through the tutorial to get access to the camp and map functions, you cannot access it right off the bat.
