Zuxx73: Screw GOG .... first and last buy on this platform
Blinkin89: Why? You can't blame the platform for a decision made by a developer.
I think it's stupid to stop buying from GOG for something they can't influence.
Two different things:
- Main blame is indeed towards the developer/publisher, not GOG. One could also claim GOG has part of the blame and should make agreements with publishers where they are obliged to give the latest patches also to GOG version, but not sure if such agreements really are doable, and whether they'd work anyway. I mean, what would be the sanction for breaking the agreement? The game is pulled from GOG, that's all? I don't see how that would benefit me either.
- Having said that, that is still a valid reason for someone to choose to buy where the game is supported (better). Sad but true.
So besides the modding tools, what exactly the GOG version will be missing then? Some crucial gameplay fixes?
I recall there have been earlier instances too when the publisher has implied future updates etc. will come only to the Steam version, yet later they have appeared on the GOG version anyway, possibly after GOG has contacted them. If not, I guess one just needs to remember which publishers to boycott also with their future games when buying from GOG (and I'd personally probably boycott them elsewhere too for not supporting their GOG customers).
