hi i am playing Thief Gold and the cut scenes were not playing. one thread said to download an xvid thing and that didn't work and another said to run in admin mode and that did but my save files are not there. is there a way to get them available when running in admin mode so i dont have to redo it all?

Yes there is! When you are NOT running as admin, Windows security redirects the save files to a different location, because you do not have write priveleges to the Program Files folder. Now that you ARE running as admin, the game is looking for saves in the normal location (within the install directory inside Program Files) and isn't finding them.

So where did Windows put them? There are a few possibilities. Usually it's in a virtual store location... check this thread for details:

If you find the savegames there, then you just need to move them back to the regular location. I'm not sure exactly where that is for Thief, but my guess is it's where you installed the game, probably within a subfolder called "saves" or something similar. Can someone confirm the correct location?

yes, saves are under Thief\saves. also, check the sticky topic to fix all your problems.
