**FIXED** GO TO EDIT TO SEE HOW

Same issue with me, no videos.

- Installed to another directory
- Ran as admin
- Used command line fix
- Restarted (sometimes fixed it in the past)
- ddraw fix doesn't work (crashes when attempting to install it)

EDIT: The ddfix linked here doesn't work. This version does work 100% (ddfix 1.5.5)

I don't care if it's an old version or not, I'm not downloading and faffing about with a hex editor to try and get it to work. This works fine.

Robbeasy: For others with the same problem, heres an eejits guide for Windows 7 64 bit

My specs :
Windows 7 64 bit

Solution :
Open Command Box (type command in the 'search program and files' box and hit enter).
Type 'cd c:\windows\SysWOW64' - then hit enter.
Type 'regsvr32 ir50_32.dll' - hit Enter.

You should get a message saying registered successfully. Remember this and the game must be run as an administrator to be successful.

If anyone successfully registering using a different method / Windows version also posts their solution we should cover everything pretty quickly....

(thanks to iainmet and ymgve for the solutions - I'm really just repeating their good work...;)
This works.
*RUN THE GAME AS ADMINISTRATOR* Were the key words I was missing for awhile.

Here are some tips that may or may not work.

Firstly the Theif Gold installer defaults to installing Thief Gold in this folder patch.

"C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Thief Gold\"

Theif Gold is as we all know is an old game and dosn't handle dots in foldernames correctly apparently.

So try changeing the install path to this:

"C:\Program Files\GOGcom\Thief Gold\" (notice it dosn't have a dot in GOG.com but just says GOGcom in one line)

Also on Vista and Windows 7 there are some folder restrictions to the Program Files folder, so if you use Vista or Windows 7 I reccomend this installpath instead:

"C:\GOGcom\Thief Gold\"

EDIT: Just tested again and Thief Gold did playback the videos when installed to
"C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Thief Gold\"

But you can still try it out to see if it works /END EDIT

Secondly try and register ir50_32.dll as others have suggested

However if you have Vista and Windows 7 64-Bit you should register dll files like this:

Go to your Windows folder and then to your SysWOW64 folder and find the cmd.exe in there and run it as an administrator

then type:

cd c:\windows\sysWOW64

followed by pressing enter

then type regsvr32 ir50_32.dll and hit enter again

let it do its thing and exit.

The reason for this is when you run the cmd.exe from the SysWOW64 folder you use the 64-bit version of regsvr32 wich lies in the SysWOW64 folder, and not the 32-Bit version from the System32 folder.

And the regsvr32 wich lies in the SysWOW64 folder should register dll files correctly for 64-Bit systems

While the regsvr32 in the System32 folder is used to register dll files in a 32-Bit system.

Sometimes it helps registering a dll file with both versions of regsvr32, first the one in the System32 folder, then the one in SysWOW64 folder on 64-Bit systems.

Lastly try and apply the DDFix if all else fails.

Hope this info helps

ir50_32.dll registration is now handled by the installer and should be unnecessary if the game was downloaded on Thursday or later.
Just a note.

So what does this mean regarding me getting the videos to work in-game? Just downloaded, installed, and they're skipped every time. Running as admin. Windows 7 64-bit.
maybe try clicking on the sticky topic? it fixes the movie problem permanently, among others.
