I recall the game running good with the Windows exe.

Has anyone been suffering problems with Theme Hospital? Is it the DOS or Windows 95 or both? Do you recommend it? Does it run pretty good? Should we wait for a buy?
It is the DOS version, and it is quite disappointing. The performance is sub-par, and I have problems with mouse movement, so I'm not really happy about it. I remember the Windows version running perfectly fine in windows 7, but getting the DOS version is kinda..meh. :/

I, on the other hand, couldn't get Theme Hospital to run, and the GoG version works perfectly.

There is an open source clone of TH, currently in development here. It runs perfectly, most of the features are implemented, but it's just not quite there in terms of the humour or atmosphere of the original.

At the moment, I think this GoG version is the best there is available then, but once the Open Source has been completed, because of the resolution and graphics it offers, that will be the best option.

I had mouse problems at the first run. I don't have any mouse problems anymore, try increasing you mouse speed in windows, mine is maximized with the "Enhance pointer precision" checked. Yes it is the DOS version, also for me the game is running fine.

They could have included a windows executable with a WARNING on it if they weren't sure about it. The soundtrack in DOS takes me back, so good and perfect for the game.

Didn't help unfortunately, now the mouse is a lot faster, but still gets stuck every few seconds. :/

At this point in time, Corsix TH uses theme hospital assets, so it has exactly the same humour and atmosphere as the original. I'm happy to report it works with the gog theme hospital package as well.

I can confirm it as well. I just tried Corsix TH(I'm running Windows 7 64 bit), runs great.

I have the old Win95 version (and the DOS version) of the gamea nd the windows version runs way better than the DOS version but was always unstable. Glad to see this on GoG but I wish it was a fixed windows version. :(
I've been waiting for this game to show up on GOG for ages, and I was just about to buy it when I noticed they use the DOS version. I had the original windows version, but the CD doesn't work any longer, I guess wear and tear or scratches, but I ran it on Vista 64 at some point and it still worked without a hitch. Why not use the windows exe?

I'm running Win7 64, and several DOSBox games does not run smoothly at all. Like the X-Com games, TES: Arena, Daggerfall to name a few. A windows exe, especially when it stil works, would very much be appreciated.

xiriod: . Why not use the windows exe?
Because Dos games, running under DosBox, are more stable for the majority of people.
It's not working for me in Windows 7. Screen doesn't appear to be refreshing much, so intro FMV stays on the same frame, as does name entry, etc. Not got the actual game to work yet, had to exit a few times after it appeared to hang. Sigh.

I'd say wait, yes.
The gog Version runs perfectly (for me) on Windows 7 64 Bit (2700K/GTX680/32GB RAM)

changing the MDI.ini to:

;
;Miles Sound System V3.50E of 24-Sep-96
;

DEVICE General MIDI (Roland MPU-401 interface or 100% compatible)
DRIVER MPU401.MDI
IO_ADDR 330h
IRQ -1
DMA_8_BIT -1
DMA_16_BIT -1

That give me General Midi music instead Soundblaster FM Sounds.

Changing in the HOSPITAL.CFG

INSTALL_PATH=c:\
INSTALL_TYPE=MAX
LANGUAGE=GER

GER gives me german language

for me a perfect working game,

BTW:
Populous 3 is very annoying - only problems!! :(

I get amazing performance on my dodgy laptop which sometimes overheats just by looking at it.

The only thing I can complain of is random slowdown sometimes and jitterness in sound. But that hardly happens and useally fixes itself.
