The changelog post states "- Improvements for keyboard controls including new UI icons ".
What does that mean? Are they rebindable now? Did they just change them to different keys (if so which keys are used now)?

Just downloaded and started playing today, and they don't seem to be rebindable.

Thank you for that information. Just one more thing. Do keyboard controls still use C,X,Z and space or which keys are used now?
Ok, I bought the game. Keyboard controls are still C, X, Z and Space, but you can also use enter or the left mouse button for clicking through dialog and the enter key to start conversations.
My keyboard has the Z somewhere else then C and X (where I can't reach it with my left hand, without moving it away from C and X, while moving the character with the arrowkeys using my right hand), so it's frustrating not to be able to rebind them. In the end, I never used Z (ungrab the rune = it stays where it was), because I would have had to look away from the screen to refind the main buttons C (activate spell) and X (grab a rune -to swap it with another rune somewhere on the board using X again), which would have meant to die even more often then I already did, because I couldn't have doged enemy attacks or simply ran away, because the battlefield requires you to navigate (they aren't just a big field, your movement is restricted due to how each battlefield is shaped, with dead-ends and such).
*sigh* I'm bad at explaining.
