I thought I'd throw this one up for discussion.

I have always aspired to get the best gear for Geralt, who struggles manfully against all those nasty bandits and monsters.

I often end up ditching witcher gear in favour of relic weapons.

Now I think I've found a weapon that I'll never sell or stick in my stash.

It's Aerondight, a silver sword you get in Blood And Wine from the lady of the lake. With each stroke (up to 10) it's power goes up by 10%, so long as you take no damage. If you manage 10 clean hits in a row it is certain to deal critical damage and its power goes up permanently by 2. For each level you gain you can make it 10 points more powerful, so it never gets dated.

On top of that it glows beautifully when you're clobbering enemies.

You can't upgrade it with runes but why would you need to? In long fights it can double its damage easily.

That's my favourite silver sword.

As for steel swords, I'm still not sure. The best one seems to vary depending what enemy you're up against. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.
Sure, you can rune it. Just go to the runewright and have 3 slots installed on it.

Yes, it's a pretty good sword. I too, like the idea that it tends to scale - but I don't know how far it will actually be useful.
Hey, I'll have to take my hat off to you!

I didn't think of the runewright. Darn it. That would make it even more awesome.

Thanks for the tip. I'll either have to wait until I get that far on game + or go back to my save at the end of blood and wine and upgrade it then.

Have a beer on me!
