rustyr: You can always copy saved games to a flash drive and reinstall to hearts content. Just start a new game and copy the saved games folder to new game folder.Ive done that myself and worked like a charm.
I'm having trouble with that. My gamesaves started out in my C: Documents folder. I have just copied the gamesaves folder inside the Witcher 3 game folder, which is on my D: drive. The game starts by showing the "movie" at the very beginning, then by tapping the space bar I can jump through ads for Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine (I own both). Then I see the Geralt menu startup with only the option of "New Game"

Fenixp: Yes. Both your saved games and settings should be preserved, as long as you only reinstall the game, not the entire system. They're stored in your documents folder.
kupuna: What about any mods that are in place?
Fenixp: They're stored in the game's folder, so no, mods will not be preserved.
kupuna: Will all the DLC like Hearts of Stone, and others come along?
Fenixp: Yes. Galaxy will install base game and all DLC unless you tell it to do otherwise.
kupuna: I've used GOG Galaxy to download and update so far. Should i put Galaxy on the new drive as well?Or will it all be happy and wonderful?
Fenixp: When you click the install button, Galaxy will ask you where do you wish to install it. So no, you do not need to install Galaxy somewhere else.
If you want to retain your mods (and bandwidth), you may just grab your Witcher 3 folder and move it to the new location instead of uninstall/reinstalling it. After you do this, open Galaxy, click the Galaxy icon on the left side of the screen (above list of installed games) and click "Scan and import folders". In the dialogue that appears, click "select folder" and point Galaxy to where Witcher 3 now resides. After you do that, you might need to repair your Witcher 3 installation by clicking Witcher 3, More button, Manage and "Verify/Repair"
Thank you Fenixp. This was a good answer, I will give you credit as a solution, but I have a question beyond the scope of your answer. As you will see in my answer to Rustyr (below, I think). I cannot get the game to "find" the gamesave files. In my original installation, they were in the "Documents" directory on my C: drive. Not in the game folder for Witcher 3, which was on a different drive.
With my new installation, I apparently don't know how to point the program to the location of the gamesave files. I moved the gamesave files to the GOG/Witcher 3 directory, but that had no effect. Can you assist on this?
