In the Blood and Wine DLC and in the "No Place Like Home" quest, a lot of other players including me have ran into this very annoying bug. After we pay 5000 crowns for the general renovations inside the house and wait for three days for the work to finish, the game does not render the new refurbished house. Instead the house stays the same, the same old broken down one. I even finished the whole quest thinking it might be refurbished once the whole quest is done, but sadly it didn't

Here are also some things I noted with this bug:

For me:

- The door down in the cellar does not go away after the general renovations, hence it blocks the secret door and Im unable to access it.
- Other things such has the bed, stable, amour stands, weapon racks, guest room, outer courtyard, grinding stone, amourers table and the herb garden don't seem to be affected by this bug for me.
- Regarding the new amour stands and the weapon racks, they seem to get placed over the previous old house's things. For example the amour stand near the main door is merged with the barrel with was there before. I have attached a picture below.
- When I looked at some videos in youtube I saw that the new renovated house had more places to hang paintings in the main hall, but in my game those areas are being blocked by the old rusty cupboards.
-The exterior changes a bit from the old looking house to the same old looking house but with the wooden ramparts and scaffolding used for construction. It never changes from that.

For others:

-In some of the forums I have seen people complaining that their bed did not get refurbished.
- For some using the few bed will get Geralt stuck to the bed, players are unable to save or do anything. Only left with the option of loading a previous save sile.
- Herb garden does not get refurbished for some too.

Causes:

I searched the internet to find out the main cause and I found a player in the Steam called McMercyton who had paid the money for general renovation but then had fast-traveled to Velen to buy some stuff. I had done the same thing too, I had fast traveled to Novigrad to check the selling price of some weapons. So it looks like if a player fast travels to some other region during the time of renovation, this bug is more likely to appear.

Solution:

Right now the only solution is to load a previous save before fast-traveling to another region. Like I said I thought this bug would get fixed once I complete the whole quest, so if I load a previous save now I will be losing easily 8-10 hours of progress.

The good news is I have heard CD Projekt Red have heard about this bug and they are trying to fix it. So for the people who are in the same boat as me, help is on its way. Just thought I would pool in all information about this bug in this post, so it will be of help to someone at least.

If you have any other problem relating to this bug please post it below, hopefully this collection might help someone. Who knows it might help CD Projekt Red too. This is what I like to call Crowd Source Bug Report ;)

If you encounter this bug please post it here or on any other forum, more the visibility faster the release of the fix.

Yeah it happens if you leave Toussant, apparently
I've encountered the same bug too (of course I was gonna come back to the previous locations... there were loads of bandits' corpses lying around; tell me of a single player that got into 400+ hours into this game NOT to come back to see how the new materials are sold outside Touissant without looting the hell out of everything first, specially when hearing out about the new Witcher Gear).

In my case, I cannot access the racks for upgrading the weapons/armor bonuses (they're shown on the minimap, yet they're nowhere to be found. Roach's stable seems to be exactly the same, full of rubbish place. I noticed the bed bug, it happened once, but managed to fix it by saving and reloading the file.

On the other hand, the herb garden is available (at least the one with the dye stuff materials). Also, managed to jump through the cellar block to access the secret room. It is worth noticing several caves and other common houses are "semi-blocked" by random stone textures (cemetery doors shows as opened in some cases, but Geralt cannot enter).

I really hope someone can fix this, or at least reset the quest (a couple of days at Skellige gie a good amount of money).
By the way... does the spoons get you better meals in the future?

I have a savefile when I'm advised I'm reaching a passing point in the plot in one of the (I assume) last missions and wandered around maps to loot and screenshot everything, waiting, like the OP, for a workaround or fix about this.
Thank you very much.

Under certain conditions meals will be announced as "good and warm..." (loosely quoted).
But for this your home might have to be renovated (only one part of the condition).

Oh, should've figured... the only things the old lady gives me are nothing but potatoes and some pork so far.

By the way, I've finished everything. I believe most bugs and future fixes will eventually come after starting NG+
My house has not been painted, it's still old looking, and I've completed the quest.
Update the game, DLC's and HoS expansion to the latest versions. Do not fast travel out of Toussaint while waiting for the renos to finsih.
