Hi all.

Either I'm doing something wrong or refilling potions is badly designed. Let's say I have 3 units of Graphics Card Cooling Potion (name doesn't really matter). If I use all of it, I cannot refill because an empty flask is preventing me from doing that. I have to toss it away first and then the alchemy stops saying I already have that potion. So, every time I want to do a refill, I'm moving the flask from quick slot to the inventory (because, for some reason, we can't drop items directly from equip slots), then toss it and finally I can make that potion again. Is there some other way to refill used potions other than ditching the flask first or meditating? Am I missing something here?

Meditating auto-refills potions as long as you have the required alcohol, you never have to create it again.

Yes, I know that. I'm looking for a way to refill potions without meditating. When I'm doing a quest involving running around the dark places, I don't want to sit and relax for an hour so every 15 minutes to refill the Cat potion. I have an empty flask, I know how to brew, I should be able to restock just like the first time.

As far as I know, you can't. There are torches if Cat is your only issue.
It's because the entire alchemy system's overhauled. Instead of stocking up potions, oils, bombs like in the last game, now you only have to make them once. (Don't fall into this trap of toss-and-rebrew, I recommend getting used to meditating to refill, because what the hell are you gonna do when you get to the "enhanced" and better potions and bombs?)

Also Quen makes you glow, works sort of like a torch, in addition to the defensive effect.
Ah, OK. Thanks guys. This mechanic seems weird. First we can brew the potion without meditation, then we need chill out to refill. That's not logical at all.

Well, brewing potions should take a few hours, so if I had to remove something, it would be the ability to instatly brew a potion. But it's a game after all, and I like it how it is. What I don't like is that we have the option to create potions, bombs, etc during a fight. "Oh, a werewolf surprised me! Wait, please! Give me a few minutes so I can prepare my oil!"

Haha I agree that it's kinda weird, but personally for the sake of gameplay I rather like how Witcher 3 handles alchemy and preparation. Althought I think Witcher 1 probably has the best compromise between gameplay and realism.

WItcher 2 alchemy/preperation I just found extremely annoying after a while.

I was also suprised.

At first I hated how the first combat potion I got lasted only 30 seconds, then I brewed eagles whatever and now I'm happy... just have it on permanently. :-)

Maybe you already have this, but I found an Enhanced Cat recipe with double the duration. It was in Mulbrydale, just south of Hanged Man's Tree.
