Went to try the game on a 1440p widescreen rather than my ultrawide screen to see if there was a difference in fps at max settings, something at least playable after the intro scene. The game started downloading a patch, about 1.8 GB or so [Edit: 1.89 GB], but I don't see any patch notes as to what the patch is or does. Anyone have any insight as to what the patch entails?

Interesting, there is indeed a 1.9GB Patch also for the offliner installer of 4.00 Version.

But it doesn't say anything either.
From Twitter:

We’ve just released a hotfix for The Witcher 3 on PC, which should improve the overall stability and performance, and fix GOG & Steam overlays. The game version won’t change.
Let's see what people report... 1.9GB is not a small hotfi, certainly not just swapping a few DLLs and the .exe file...
I can see the Change log in Galaxy for 4.0.0 Hotfix.

Or am I wrong?

Edit: I am wrong. There is no changelog for 4.0.0 hotfix.

Although this patch did nothing for my frame rate the game feels a lot smoother and playable now.

Before the patch I had roughly 50-55fps at 3440x1440 with Ultra RT and everything else turned on; however because of the microstutters it wasn't playable (surprisingly even GSync couldn't help there).

Now with the patch the framerate hasn't improved at all but the stuttering is mostly gone. The different DLSS-options still do nothing (fps-wise) for me but I think I'll give it a serious try now.
Hopefully there will be another patch in the near future
So just updated and now I have 2 fps and rt is just buggy. Purple water, flickering light, juhu....

edit:

just made a new save game and then load... now works fine

Holy smokes this patch made wonders for the stuttering and non-existent smoothness.
It's much much better now. Thanks a bunch!

Everything at max, including RT. i7 11700k 3080ti
Still crashing in DX12 mode .. Runs fine if i use DX11
On my PC still runs like a crap. DX12 version still ignores my gamepad (xbox series controller), and DX11 version still runs from 5 to 60 fps on the lowest settings in 720p resolution. Before the next gen patch, on the same pc it all worked in 1080p at stable 60 fps, and high settings...

My pc spec is i5 7th gen, 16GB RAM, Geforce 1060, 6gb, and 2TB SSD.

Not yet available on the offline installers...

NVM. It shows as a patch file instead of updating the whole game installers.
