So I thought this might be a bug that was just in one cutscene when I first saw it during her flashback with the Baron, but now it's happening everywhere ciri unsheaths her sword, and it's driving me absolutely bonkers. Whenever ciri draws her sword (In-cutscene), she draws thin air. She grasps slightly behind the sword, but unsheathes nothing, it stays in its sheath. Additionally, in cutscenes just before she's about to draw her sword, one of the generic longsword models appears clipped into her sword, including the sheath. I really want to get this fixed ASAP, as I'm worried about it spoiling a lot of the late-game cutscenes. The only other time I played through this game was on release, and totally without mods, so I have no references if this bug has existed on my system in other patches. I'm fairly sure it isn't mods though as disabling them all was the first thing I made sure to do.

Things I've tried so far:

Disabling all mods - no change
Verifying cache - no change
Doiing both of the above - Still no change
Completely wiping the entire game's install folder, then using Steam's verify cache feature to verify and reinstall all game files - no change
Trying out both of ciri's different costumes - no change
Disabling all alternate character costumes - no change

I can add screenshots for reference if needed.

Irrelevant. You've been using mods and saving your game with them installed, yes? In that case, any glitches caused by mods or incorrect installation are saved along with it. What you are describing sounds precisely the kind of thing that some mods are prone to introduce. But you're looking for an answer... I don't have one, except for loading a save prior to installing the mods. Remember, mods are produced by amateurs who do not know (for the most part) the game engine, so you ALWAYS use them at your own risk.

Ah well, thanks for the help anyway. There are no saves prior to the mods existing, been playing with them since starting this new character, and I'm too far in to turn back now. Thanks for the help.
you can reset the characters using either "geralt" or "ciri" in the debug console, this will detach strange stuff.
Which mods do you have installed?
I've seen this same glitch, and I have no mods... only patched vanilla version with all DLC and expansions. I'm assuming it has to do with one of the more recent patches since I did not see it in earlier playthroughs.
