my friend gifted me the hearts of stone dlc on steam but I own the base game on gog, how do I activate the dlc?

EDIT: i just read the support post about it not being able to be gifted, does that mean im not able to activate on gog with a steam bought dlc?

You might be able to download the game files on Steam and then transfer them to your Witcher 3 folder. Once the game is released, I would advise checking back to find out the install path. This is a possible solution, but very probably won't work.

Try contacting support and explaining the situation. They might have mercy on you and grant you a key.

Finally, you could get your friend to ask for a refund on Steam.
