Hey guys,

I went to Gamestop today and purchased the expansion pass for The Witcher 3. I told the guy who sold it to me that I bought the game through Steam, and I was wondering if it would work. He said yes. Well, I put in the activation code in this site today and it says I need the parent game to even get the expansion pass to activate. I have the parent game, just not through this site. Can someone help me?

Try http://thewitcher.com/exchange, it should allow you to exchange GOG key to either Steam or Origin key. The action is irreversible!

So this means that I won't technically have the game in Steam anymore? Could you provide some more information? I'm sorry I'm just being very cautious.

Oh I see, it'll just make a code that works for Steam. So what do I do when Blood and Wine comes out? I mean this code is for both expansions, but is this site only going to give me Hearts of Stone?

No, you won't lose your game on Steam. All retail copies of the game and expansions have GOG keys, not Steam ones. The site I linked allows to exchange the retail (GOG) expansion key to either Steam or Origin. You put the GOG key there, your e-mail and select desired platform. By confirming the exchange, you'll receive a new CD-Key compatible with selected platform, and the GOG key you typed will be made obsolete and not working any more.

For that I'm unsure. I think it'll be best to either wait for more replies from user's who tried that, or play safe and just directly ask Support through the link provided on the exchange page - http://www.gog.com/support.
