Hi guys, so just a question here. Given the choice at say 60 FPS at medium graphical or maximum at 30 FPS. This is something that I also OCD over in games when I can't have both.

Does playing with a gamepad influence your decision. I find 30 FPS a little more tolerable with a gamepad.
Personally I don't notice a difference between 50fps and 60fps. Therefore you could try to optimize your settings to run a 45-50fps.

I wouldn't go down to 30fps, because that is to low (for me at least), but if you don't mind then go ahead.
I'd rather use 60fps. 30 fps is perfectly playable, but the low framerate strains my eyes.

I play @high/ultra settings @ 2715x1527 and I get 40-60fps. I use a 4k gsync monitor, so as long as the fps stays above 40 I really can't notice that much of a difference. I could go to 4k with just high settings and no SSAO and AA, but the constant 30fps is very unpleasant to look at, even though 4k gives a very nice picture.

Note that with textures @high or ultra and other settings @medium is a sweet spot for a lot of gpu's to get more than 40fps while still looking pretty good.

I hate gamepads.
And I don't care for 60fps.
I'm planning on getting a very high resolution monitor. In trough I might get 60 on low settings, but on anything else I'll be getting 30 at best.
i would almost definitely 30 fps at high for a third person game, especially with gamepad. consistent 30fps doesnt typically bother me
Yeah, 30fps is perfectly enjoyable with a gamepad =)
The reason is that camera movements are slower.

BTW, the game is obviously made for gamepads.

I play 25/30fps ultra with gamepad.
I'd definitely go for 60 FPS, combat does require some fast reactions regardless of your input method (and I actually am using a pad to play the game). That being said, every time I set foot in Novigrad my framerate drops to like 45 and there's one particular locations in Novigrad (around Triss's house and the hospital) in which my framerate inexplicably drops to 20, which is the worst performance I have ever seen of this game. Perfect 60 out in wilderness tho. Strange. (well not really given the number of actors in Novigrad, but god damnit, the place where I get massive frame drop is not even that busy)

The game don't require fast reactions IMO. Ennemies are quite predictable. And with 30fps you have an information every 1/30 sec (obviously), which means every 0,033 sec. That's not bad.
In 60fps you get an information every 0,016 sec.
So when you have 60fps, an information can be displayed 0,016 sec faster... Meh.

It can surely make a difference in some extremely fast games, but not here IMHO.

If you can tollerate the sluggish feel of 30 fps combat go for it I guess...
If you spend a few hours @60 stable it's gonna be hard convincing your self to drop to 30.
I understand going 30 if you can't really catch a stable 60 tho.

True.
Mostly a question of habit.
