hi all -

i just got tw2 and my gameplay is unexpectedly laggy, like visually. geralt responds very slowly and the mouse moves disproportionately fast, which makes it a headache and a half sometimes. is this just how the game is? i'm running it on a brand new lenovo ideapad with a nvidia geforce card.

windows 7 64 bit, intel core i7 processor cpu 2 Ghz, geforce GT 555m with a cuda core, 8 gigs ram... it's brand new and advertised as good for gaming.

Advertised as good for gaming, eh? Well I guess it is for many games, but The Witcher 2 is really demanding. (You did disable "Ubersampling", didn't you? If not, do it now. ^^)

The graphic card is the problem here, it's too slow. The main problem is it's memory, it still uses the old DDR3 memory. The size of the memory doesn't matter, it's too slow in terms of megaherz, data rate and access time.

I'm not entirely sure of that. For what it's worth, my Quadro 2000M (which is ranked a smidgen /below/ that card, at least per notebookcheck) handles the game quite well on 1920x1080. That said, I do also have a 2720QM and use SSDs rather than HDs...

Check the stickies first, turn off SSAO and ubersampling if either is on as both are intensive, and make sure that your BIOS is set to either use switchable graphics or discrete, not just the Intel GMA stuff. And if you've got a cooling pad, consider using it to keep temperatures more manageable and reduce throttling.
