archaven, you can consider me a pirate, have never paid for a game in my life til now. Bought both witcher 1 & 2, and I am waiting just like the rest. Hope that makes you feel better ;)

ale81drummer: One of the reasons I paid for it is to support these awesome developers, and GOG. The pirates don't get to enjoy that feeling, nor all the bonuses that come with the game. They also won't get patches as quickly as we will, and they'll have to wait for cracks to go along with those patches.

So honestly--sucks for them.
Well no they wont need cracks because once the GOG version is out it will be everyware in minutes im afraid, but us all bitching about lets get them i hate them BLAH BLAH BLAH isnt gonna stop it.My bro is a copper he gave me a lift home with two of his PC mates and in the glove compartment was some copied music CD's,they said they had the originals YEH YEH,EVERYONE has at some time had something they havent paid for its life.

Achromatis: I dont think it would be worth the legal fees to go after torrenters. And all that would happen is more backlash, look what people did with Spore.

The people who are going to buy it will buy it, and if they torrent it first then thats probably because no devs put out PC demos anymore. And all that things like invasive and restricting DRM does is negatively affect your legit customer base. Which will cause some people to not buy your game(like the whole Securom hubub).

People pirate because they dont want to pay for things. Even if you make an unpiratable game, those people STILL wont buy your game. Enforcing DRM isnt going to increase your sales.
^^^^THIS^^^^
I'd like to note that not all pirates download games illegally because they don't want to pay for them. A lot of people in economically undeveloped countries can't buy the game even if they wanted to simply because it costs so much for them.

As an example I'll give my country - Bulgaria. Here only a small minority buys games and only richer people can afford to buy games on a regular basis. New games on release cost around 1/4 of the minimal wage in the country. I'll leave it at that.

See HAWX2 from Ubisoft, not pirated (afaik) and it blows balls anyways. Its really lame.

I know i will not

@Lenny
Why would the thread FAIL when during CDPR SPRING 2011 CONFERENCE, GOP mentioned that not the pirates who will play the game first.
Its fail because all these threads about piracy is only bringing attention on how to get the game illegally. No matter what intention of the thread was in the first place that's really all it will amount to.

Wanna do some good. Go spread the word on the rest of the web about why people should drop by GOG and show their support by buying this game. If 1 out of 10 000 people reading such a comment head over here and buy the game it will have done more good than all the piracy threads on this forum put together.
They won't push the gog unlock ahead though. TheWitcher.com is still a shell without forums and registrations

And look at the bright side, at least when it unlocks in 11 hours there'll be 2 patches out and we won't have to suffer through the 0-day pains that any game has.

The same for me. I can only spent 400$ a year, so I have to be really picky. Can't spent all on games. Last month needed a HDD, here, they are really expensive, that means -100 of my annual quota

BTW. When I said I can't, doesn't mean I don't have the money, the goverment won't give the money...so I really can't

Yeah I agree, all piracy threads should be banned and closed straight away. It doesnt really add anything new and it's just a tricky topic on official cdp forums.
I hope the mods close them all.

Your government decides when and how much of your money you can use?

Yes. 400$ a year for internet transactions. If you travel, the amount you get depends on destination and time you'll be out of the country.

BTW. I'm learning german =)
The real reward is knowing that we've supported one of the best PC developers and distributors out there. Also having the luxury of achievements, ease of install/updating, and an endless list of bonus content at our fingertips. Even if the pirates were playing a week ago, I would still be proud of my purchase at GOG.com
