I've been playing The Witcher 2, in menus the mouse seems to lag. Is this suppose to happen? Because on the opening screen or in the escape menu (where save, exit, load, ect. is) the mouse works perfectly fine, just wont work in the inventory, journal, ect.

I read a bit online and tried to disable smoothness, x/y-sensitivity in the user.ini file (didn't see a mouse smoothness which some people mentioned along side just normal smoothness, just a smoothness under Mouse Input). Also tried disabling v-sync and Ubersampling, to no avail.

Anyone know how to fix this, or am I just stuck with it?

It shouldn't do it in the menu.

Make sure you're using the latest video card driver, and unplug any controllers you have.

/facepalm

Why didn't I think of that (updating drivers). That worked for inventory, but I am still having the issue with looting.
Unplug any controllers, and perform a clean boot and run the game.

Still a bit of delay, but not much.
The Witcher 2 uses a crappy software-based mouse capture system rather than raw input from the mouse itself. At lower framerates, the mouse input isn't updated as quickly as it should be, and thus you end up with mouse lag. Mouse lag can occur even in the inventory screen and other menus, because the scene still seems to be rendered in the background... whereas the main menu is fine because there's just a video file displaying behind.

Unless it's addressed in a patch, we're going to have to live with less-than-ideal mouse controls.

The mouse lag makes arm wrestling REALLY difficult...
It shouldn't be, try adjusting the sensitivity and/or resolution and game settings.

I think what you are experiencing isn't really lag, its intentional.
Turn off V-Sync in "Settings" and restart the game.

If it were intentional, why wouldn't the mouse lag be present elsewhere in the game? It only seems laggy in the inventory, during arm wrestling, and when I'm using alchemy. And I'll never try to use V-Sync on my computer...

Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53GHz
6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 331MHz
Generic PnP Monitor (1440x900@59Hz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
Does it get better if you play around with the game's graphic settings?

And make sure you don't have any controllers plugged in.

Check it up in the game by decrease all the graphics to minimum, lowest possible resolution, disable mouse smoothing and mouse dampening in user.ini...
This issue is NOT solved. Most of the moderator gave half assed respond on the mouse lag in witcher 2. Fact is that Witcher 2 is an awesome game and I want to play it BUT I can't due to the mouse unresponsiveness. It is very frustrating to jack out some money on a software company that you trust because of their principles BUT they are providing a broken product.

Right now, I cannot play my Witcher 2. I changed the config, I exhausted all the resources on this website and the Internet and my mouse still lags.I have i7 Core processor with ATI Radeon 6570 card.

I am sick of this - and I am not going to buy another GOG/CD Projeckt game until this situation is fixed.

C'mon moderator/developer. Give us some concrete solution.

squeegymop: ATI Radeon 6570
Unless you're running the game at 1280x720 windowed on the lowest settings, which is about all a 6570 can take, that's most likely your problem right there. The game itself isn't broken; plenty of people have played through without any lag or delay. It's only when you push weak hardware (which the 6570 is—if you're comparing it to the minimum requirements, remember that the second digit is the most important one) on a graphics-intensive game like this that problems start to occur. You can protest the company if you want, but it's really not their fault.
