there needs to be a purchasable resurrection scroll or something, make it cost a butt load of gold for all i care, or even make it cost a talent point. 1 death = game over in an rpg that takes 40+ hours to complete is ridiculous, anyone else agree?

Disagree, as it isn't mandatory to play Insane-mode. It's meant to be masochist. :-)
Then why play on insane mode? Just play on hard or normal.

because death means nothing on hard mode, and i barely ever die while just attacking head on, i want death to actually have some kind of a meaning, losing large amounts of hours is too much meaning for me though :P
I don't want to belittle your request/feedback, but honestly, nothing in the game forces us to play on Insane difficulty, or on any difficulty setting for the matter.

I think there are more pressing issues to look into than to accommodate a very specific feature of the game to what I believe remains a very small portion of the population that plays the game :

- improving on the inventory management, which is currently really a mess
- improving on the animations in battle, to make them more reactive than what they currently are
- improving on the general learning curve of the game, which remains too steep for many players that are new to the game/genre
- etc.
This is how many old school games used to be. You lose your lives, it's game over. They are probably just paying homage to that, and quite a few gamers enjoy a near impossible challenge because it's rewarding. It should stay as it is

there should be some middle ground at least.. as it is, it goes from completely easy with 100% chance success (hard mode) to nearly impossible. hard mode feels like literally no challenge to me, and insane is impossible, it sucks.

I do not, no. Insane is supposed to be insane... it's thrown in as an 'insanely' difficult challenge. That was the intention of it. As others have said, this harks back to some 'old school' games... things like NetHack, Ang/Zangband or other RogueLikes... Death is permanent.

If there was something like this available for insane, we'd probably have people posting on this forum asking for Insane to be made more difficult.
I disagree. It's what insane difficulty for.

Some people would say that the game is too hard as it is.

What I'm getting at is that it's pointless to say that something "needs changes" because it doesn't specifically cater to your individual difficulty whims. It's entirely subjective and not a design flaw that needs to be changed.

This is how you find the game. From the communities I've been speaking to about the game, they've largely been finding Easy too easy, Normal quite challenging (perhaps a little too challenging at times), Hard a significant and challenge, and Insane as exactly that, insane. Personally, I've found Normal just about right, perhaps even a fraction too easy (although now I'm out in the Wilds, I'm thinking it's just right).

Perhaps you are not the majority, or anything like the majority, for this game. You find Hard as literally no challenge... If the devs were to make Hard more challenging, do you not think there would be people here to say "Make Hard easier... it's too difficult now"?

Why can you decide that for all of us?
I thought I might try the insane mode eventually - but not before permanent death is modded out. You can make a severe punishment for the character, so death still means something. But please, who wants to start over, because their finger slipped on the controls after 20 hours?

Where is the incentive to play insane mode? Not only are the enemies tougher, also they are supposed to use different tactics than in the other difficulties, so that is something you might want to see. I hear that it is also harder to find your crafting materials for your superior equipment. Don't know if that is true, though.

Well, I've heard Flash say, he didn't agree with the permanent death thing and he is the master modder of TW1... I can wait a while... ;)

Similarly, why should the OP decide what Insane difficulty should be like? Or why should you? Or anyone? The people who should, and who have decided what Insane difficulty is like are the Devs, and guess what? There is perma death.
since all of you seem to be ignoring my points about how there is no middle ground and are just saying difficulty is subjective i guess ill just give up on these forums.. amount of lives doesnt make the game harder, just makes it more ridiculous.. its boring to me that i can just re-load if i die on hard, its not a challenge because i know i will ultimately win regardless of how many times i die., THERE NEEDS TO BE A MIDDLE GROUND is what im saying.. the difficulty jumps from 100% chance to succeed to .05% chance to succeed. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE GAME BEING TOO HARD!!!!

Last I heard, everybody is entitled to make a request. If ultimately the devs think about it or modders work on it, remains to be seen. Why shred the OP to pieces because he has another opinion?
