Sometimes I want to kill randomly for fun...

How do I kill the regular townspeople? It won't let me target them.

Also, if I kill townguards, is there a mod or something I can do with cheat engine that stops the guards from going after me? Especially how I just get shot automatically without even being able to fight

Yes, I am evil !!

Thanks

Play Morrowind instead?

Seriously. You seem to have wandered into a game that is not for you, if that is how you think it is to be played. In this game, you are not meant to play just anybody, you play a particular character with a strict, if somewhat self-devised and self-serving, moral code.

^ That.
And if you're not even able to suffer the consequences of your deeds, that counts twice for what he said.
Yeah, you're playing the wrong game, I'm afraid. Sorry.
but you can kill ppl in the Witcher 1, yet not the Witcher 2?

Isn't there anyway to escape being auto shot for killing guards
No and no. You cannot kill innocent people in this game, that is all.

No, you can't target civillians. I tried :). I haven't seen any mods that deal with that, although depending on your path you can sometimes kill guards in Chapter 3 without repercussions.

You're incapable of playing as a traditional evil character in the game, as in nuking a whole town (hehehe) or massacring everyone, not in this game. Everything you do is in shades of grey.
Wasn't there a game, in which you could kill NPCs, but then you were unable to finish your missions because of their absence? It served as a great lesson for those, who are fond of going on a killing spree in cRPGs.

I would super pissed off if I killed a character and find out after 5 hours that I can't progress anymore because the dead guy is required for the main quest.

Arcanum?
The game is shallow in the sense of immersion.. I remember the vanilla Witcher 2.. without patch.. I was able to kill townsfolk.. But they kept on respawning the moment you killed them.

They only added a slight touch where townsfolk begging you .. "No please" when you sheath your sword.. Most of them you are unable to kill even slash them.

Althought it doesn't blend well to the game and lore that Witcher's cant murdered the entire townsfolk, for immersion purpose just allow Geralt to kill the NPCs. Make it the same that Geralt will be approached by guards and executed for murdering.

That's it. Simple.

But the game gives you enough freedom in this case, IMO. Among many prominent NPCs, only 5 cannot be killed in any way possibly (Triss, Philippa, Zoltan, Yarpen, Dandelion), the fates of the rest depends on the player. Obviously, you cannot simple kill them without a reason/plot-triggering, but, seriously, would you want it? Absolutely anti-climatic, making no sense whatsoever and on the top of it OOC. Comparing to it, killing off random people is a far better alternative.

Go ahead, kill a guard. It's fun to see what happens. :)

Morrowind fits that description. If the NPC is main quest essential, you get a warning; otherwise you don't find out until later that you broke a quest. You can also get the (respawning) guards angry enough that they spend the rest of the game trying to kill you on sight.

Gothic I. I killed Lee, with a crossbow, cause he had a cool 2H axe... and after dozen of hours, near the end, i had to speak with him ;]
