I've had to play with low/mid settings for a couple days and I noticed that I liked the face textures better than in my normal high/ultra settings. Now I can't seem to find the specific option that changes the character model textures and of course I don't want to play on low settings, if I don't have to.

Suggestions from the more experienced tweakers?

Nobody? I thought there were so many tweaking pros here?
I think (but I may be wrong) the only option that can modify face textures is "Downscale Textures".
Tried playing around that one?
Could be that you're seeing the grainy shadows on the faces, try turning off the shadows.
In my experience SSAO and AA make a noticeable differance on the way textures appear during cutscenes and gameplay. So perhaps you should try messing with those two =)

With AA disabled everything appears blurry and less well defined and with SSAO,subtle lighting effects wont appear on Geralts face during cutscenes/gameplay,giving a more white washed kind of look. Of course its all a matter of taste, some like it that way and some dont.

Either way, just my two cents =)
Thanks, guys. It seems though, that the face textures I like I get only with low specs and when you can play in ultra sans ubersampling, you just don't do that. :)
Oh, but I learned that medium and ultra are not all that different, as long as you play both with ubersampling off.

I guess I will have to mod the face textures separately. The hair looks better with softer edges as well, but that I cannot achieve with texture editing.
AA has indeed a huge impact on the face and hair - but the rest of the game just looks a LOT better with AA turned on.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say =)

Last i checked the Witcher Nexus website has a growing list of texture mods for Geralt, including a few facial ones so im sure you can find one that will suit you. Hopefully^^

Yeah, but none that decrease the quality for the weird beholders like me, heh. ;)
But now that you mention it... there is actually a face texture on the nexus that I did - but only a little edit of the hairline and stubble to fit my white hair mod, hehe. But I could always improve on that.
