Everything turns dark and the game freezes. Restarted twice and same result..

Don't know how to solve the problem (lower settings?), just wanted to let you know that people need your attention here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/cedric
Err... At what point exactly?
Are you at the beginning, where you fight the wraiths alongside Iorveth/Saskia/etc?
Or are you at the point where you have to cross the battlefield again?
Is it upon entering or leaving the battlefield?
Are you within or outside of the protective "bubble"?

[edit] And dnna is right, although unhelpful: Please mark your other answered questions as "solved".

[edit2] Although that is no reason to spam the thread about it *looks sternly at 227 and Peetz*

I'm starting to get the feeling that 'ol Georgie is playin' us...
I have no clue what's up here. I"m an old guy(64) with very poor game skills and when a game freezes and wierd things happen I just restart and try again. I don't know all the in's and out's of the forum and game. If I can't get hints and help then i'm pretty much a goner.

Just go to solved topics linked up there and mark posts that helped you as SOLVED. Easy as that. This also helps people who encounter the same problem to quickly find a solution instead of posting a new topic.

Sorry for being unhelpful, I haven't had this issue. Try lowering your graphic settings if you haven't already, it's probably your graphics card giving you problems.

George, sorry if we were a bit quick to judge. When someone ignores repeated prompts, it's easy to grab a conclusion. Mea Culpa.

When you start a forum post as a Question, it will remain as a question until you go back to that topic and mark one of the posts as "Solved". Only the topic-starter can do that, so your old posts will remain "UNANSWERED" until you go back and mark them solved, as many of them have been. That's all we're asking you to do. Call it Forum Etiquette.

As for your age and issues - you're certainly not the only one in that chronological bracket, so don't feel alone, LOL.

The game shouldn't just "freeze" or "do weird things", so I would surmise that you have hardware or software issue with either your PC in general, or the installation of the game. The game will automatically "auto-detect" the video settings when you first run it, but unfortunately it does a poor job at that, so most "tweak" those setting to get it running smoothly. If you would post back with your Hardware specs - CPU, video card, Memory, Operating System - it would be easier to give you some more specific things to try.
I've seen similar cutscene issues, on a computer that gets left on all day and used for multiple purposes by different family members. At the start of a cutscene, the screen goes black and ambient sounds continue. It stays that way until it's killed from Task Mangler. If you relaunch the game, the problem will recur in the same place, or at any other cutscene start. If you reboot, the problem goes away.

So, workaround: kill the program, and reboot.

Solution: Can't really blame CDPR for the other crap people run on your computer. Good computer hygiene is essential if you're going to run a demanding game.
