Has the word "fuck" been edited to "plow" in the AU version? It seems really out of place when someone is told to go plow themselves. Surely this is not how CDProjekt wrote the game?
I already bought the game on steam, but heard I could have an uncensored version on GoG!
Sadly, my account display "The Witcher 2 AU" (AU for Australia...)
Is there a way to get the uncensored version?

The language was not said to be edited. It might be that the Polish language has so many vulgar synonyms for "fuck", add some XVIth c. cusswords, I guess the translators didn't want to be bland.

Cursing in Polish is second to only few others I'm told.

Go to the My Account page, note the new option on Account & Settings and fiddle with it.

They don't give out uncensored versions to any Australian, after all. They have to look like they comply with the ratings board.

There will be a fan-patch sometime. CDP stated it'll be esy to edit it out, only one quest was censored.
I bought the game on gog.com and I'm from Germany. There shouldn't be any censorship language- or sex-wise. But even in my version they say plow yourself... I guess this is just how they translated the game into English and not some kind of weird censorshhip
Damn censorship, I'll have to watch out for future patch!
For future game, my location is set to UK! :) will see...

Only 1 quest changed? no black dots or unnatural nippleless breasts? I don't get the censorship in this country (or in the US) where graphic violence and gruesome death animations are perfectly acceptable but sex is bad? I think the AU censorship board needs to lay off the crack pipe.....

They didn't tone down the sex scenes did they... please tell me they didn't... else I might have to send a large parcel to the office of film and literature classification....

It's a colloquialism within the game's world that basically has the same usage as fuck. A little jarring, but definitely how CDProjekt wrote it.

From what we've been told there's a sidequest somewhere, where Geralt may choose one of two rewards - one tanglible, one of erotic nature. In the censored verion that decision is taken for the player. This is also why it'd be easy to mod.

I've heard the term used in real life as well, by a native speake. In fact it even made it to UD: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=plow

That's how I took it too, considering in TW1 "plow" was used frequently, and there were also a number of instances of "fuck", eg dwarven blacksmith in the outskirts... I loved that line when you ask him if he deals with the terrorists... "Fuck off, you won't provoke me" (sounds like he was already provoked but hey, who am I to judge, right?)

I guess it's kinda like "smeg" or "frak"

Oh, well in that case it's no big..... wait.... WHAT??? She wants to reward Geralt with the furry checkbook and those wowsers in Canberra won't let her? It's a crime against nature I say!!!

Nah, j/k... it's not a game-breaker. As long as I can still lop off heads and get down and dirty with Triss I'm happy :)

Thaler had a tendency to say plow in the first one. In addition to other areas of the game that said fuck.

It's probably just an expletive in the setting. Or maybe it's a fair expletive in Poland, as bloody is to england.

I'm not certain since I only managed to play a little bit, but I could swear they were conjugating it into "ploughing" and such. Have you ever heard such a thing as that in real life?

Because if so, I'm moving.

It's seldom used, but then we have so many euphemisms we can take most verbs and make them sound dirty ;-) There's also the linguistic phenomenon of 3 very vulgar verbs for fornication that by the use of prefixex and suffixes can mean ANYTHING at all.

But as I've mentioned earlier: "plow" as a sexual verb is used in the English language. As in "look at her! I'd plow that field..." or "I was plowing her all night long..."

See above urbandictionary link for more on this.

I wouldn't know, I'm playing the Polish dubbed version.

To be honest it's hard to originally translate Polish swearing into English since we hav so many and... sorry but your vulgarisms are boring and few. So yeah if they're conjugating that's new. But I seriosly doubt it's because they wanted to lower their ratings ;-)

Some characters have said plough.... others fuck... seems to depend on their backgrounds - which makes sense really.
