Hi!

I just bought the Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition, but I can't seem to play it; I launch the game, I go to New Game, and the game starts loading the first area; But it then crashes, saying that "The Witcher has stopped working." I have no idea why; I have tried running the game as administrator and in compatability mode, but nothing happened.

I have some save file and that's file loading.
And I get a crash every time I enter the corridor upstairs while doing the quest "A Potion for Triss". I don't see anything. Etc: I Don't see the the chair and other object. And the mission cannot be completed.
Please somebody help me. Thanks.

Sorry for my english...

The first thing i would do would be a file integrity check . If you haven`t used steam before open the steam application and click library then right click on the witcher and select verify data cache or something like that .

If that checks out make sure you are running the 1.5 patch by navigating to your install directory
X:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/The Witcher and open the system folder and hover your mouse over The Witcher exe and it should show in the dialog box that appears 1.5.0.1304

If that checks out then try disabling autosave bt clicking the launcher and when you get to the new/load game screen click options and then game options and uncheck autosave and then apply .

Also from what i remember the witcher doesn`t do too well when overclocking video cards so if your overclocking your card by a substantial amount try lowering the settings .
Hi Konyi, I will say firstly that you should have bought it from GoG, I say this because I bought TW2 on Steam; and me and many others are having quite the time with bugs after Patch 1.3... visit Steam Forums, The Witcher 2 and check it out. Secondly you might disable your UAC and try running the game as Administrator on Steam... This fix has worked for some Steam players with TW2 and might work for you on TW1... Good luck
