Would you recommend any mods for someone's first time playing the game.I don't mean like adventurers because I will do those after I beat the game at least once. But more like bugfixes, cosmetic upgrades and the like.

I recommend to try first without any mods...
Witcher 1 is probably the only game I play virtually unmodded.
I have two small mods (both by Corylea)
The first is a small but annoying bug fix

The 2nd could be considered a cheat, but it just takes some of the tedium out of collecting herbs.

So it doesn't need any mods well that's cool.I just was checking to see if they're any mods or unofficial patches that are considered essential since I don't want to use any cheats and mods that add content will be for after I beat the Orignal Content.

This is an old post but there are some mods actually for the first play. (Especially the graphic updates):

So just curious, I started playing the witcher 1 yesterday. And a few mods installed on the first page from nexus mod manager including the faster run. And I got large frame rate drops? Like from 80 to as low as 40. I have a gtx 780m and i7 4700hq. Old hardware I know, but I figure I should be able to play the game at 1080p 60fps at max settings.
