Are the meteorite enhancements permanent? Do you recommend getting the 3 red meteorite enhancement or is there a better use of the meteorites?

Red ore is the best enhancment IMO.

I'm currently looking for a third red meteorite to have all options.
The smith will offer you all four variations you can get, for the meteorites you bring. You can compare then.

If you make a sword with 3 same meteorites you get bonus. In my opinion the red one is the best but its still no match for special swords you can get later.
