After the cut scence towards the end of chapter 1 between Geralt and Mikul the screen goes black but you can still hear the background sounds and Shani telling you to go talk to Mikul. I have no clue what to do I have tried reinstalling the game that doesn't fix anything.

Can you use an earlier save? Does it happen every time?

I haven't tried using an ealier save but it does happen every time from my two most recent saves. Which are a minute apart from each other.

Did you import saves from any earlier TW version (demo, pre-1.5 etc.)?
Try minimizing the game (Alt+Tab) and then returning. Or lowering graphic settings.

At any rate, you should post your PC specs, especially video card and drivers.

I'm playing it on my laptop for school. It runs fine on the low settings.
Intel series 4 express chipset family
Vista 64
Intel core duo

I also have saves from the demo but I started a new game after I actually bought it
