Hi,

I bought the walking dead series and installed WD1, but every time I start it and play for a few minutes, my graphic card overheats and i get a freeze and have to reset the pc. In the internet i didn't find a solution, tried to disable anti-aliasing and post effects in the graphic settings, but that did not work. Does anyone have the same issues?

My PC:

Phenom II 940
4GB
ATI HD 4870 1GB
Vista 64

This problem appeared after I installed and started WD1 for the first time, and does not appear with other games. Besides the overheating the lip-syncing is delayed and the subtitles appear only slowly, like I have some performance problems (minimal requirements met though).

I bought the retail version of Season 1 a year or two ago and this was working just fine. Can't find it though to check if the overheating problem is limited to the gog version...

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried playing in a different resolution/windowed? I had issues with S2, crashes, one complete freeze and one random reboot; although monitoring temps, my problems didn't seem to be a result of overheating. Just the game being a dick. Once I'd set it to some 1280 res and put it in windowed mode, I was finally able to play through without further nonsense.

Other than that, maybe try dusting off your GPU, that seems to be a common recommendation for problems with TWD (for ... some reason), if you don't already do that on a regular basis.

well, to be honest, i didnt try the 1280 resolution yet, windowed mode didn't change anything though. thanks for the tip, gonna try this out. btw, did dust off the gpu, was clean anyway :)

From what little I've read about it, at least S2 is best played in its native resolution which is 1280xsomething. I can only assume that S1 isn't much different and it's not much of a hassle to try, at least.

(On a side note, I'm not well versed in technical aspects of games but I still find it somewhat questionable how much strain TWD seems to put on GPUs.)

Anyway, hopefully you'll eventually get to play the game without anything bursting into flames.
I have had season 1 crash on me 3 times so far just in the first episode. It isn't overheating for me, my GPU never goes above 62 degrees and my CPU never goes above 41 degrees. I notice the lip syncing messing up which usually means a crash soon after. Had zero issues with Tales From the Borderlands.

My specs:

AMD FX-8350
16GB DDR3-2133
XFX HD7950 3GB using 16.7.1 drivers
Windows 10 Home 64
