It probably never will.
Skybound negotiated an exclusivity deal with Epic Games.
One day, The Walking Dead games may return to sale on GOG.
Chances are high, however, that they never will, as by the time the exclusivity deal runs out, SKybound won't make much money by releasing it on other stores.

I guess it might be possible sometime in the future, but probably after a while (the files are already on the server).
Apparently Epic had a big part in the success that they could finish the game and therefor it also exclusive.

I also don't know if Skybound only got the rights to finish off the final game or if they got the rights to all of them, as non of Telltales games have appeared back for sale, and if Skybound got the rights to the earlier games, I feel like we would've seen them again (even on the Epic store).

Yeah, Skybound has the rights to the whole series. The rest of the series are on the Epic Store and they are releasing a Definitive edition that has all the seasons in one package, though I think it's only exclusive to the Skybound store. https://www.skybound.com/games/telltales-the-walking-dead/tellale-definitive-edition

Forgive my ignorance of these things but do we know if Skybound's exclusivity deal with Epic is timed?

I mean, I don't mind waiting one, maybe two, years just as long as it eventually returns to GOG...

Skybound Games’ CEO said in an interview:
This exclusive means that each game of The Walking Dead released by Skybound Games’ was available on the PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store. It’s a timed exclusive, and Howe claims that The Walking Dead will be available on other stores “at some point in the future.”
