So this is my favorite of the Settlers Series and was jumping for joy when it went on sale this weekend and got. I installed it and after a few tweaks in the compatibility tab, got it loading, but I could not play anything as I kept getting a DirectSound Get Volume error. I knew it had something to do with my Realtek HDA , because disabling the driver it would play but without sound. After searching and dinking around for 2 days I finally found the fix this morning. I have an ASUS ROG Strix SCAR edition laptop and never encountered this problem before (Even when I loaded my old Zoo Tycoon CD). I knew that it had something to do with the HD sonic changing the way dsound.dll is used now. I uninstalled the ASUS Sonic Radar and ASUS Sonic Sond apps and viola I have sound and can play. I wanted to put this out there in case anyone else is having the issue.
