I've bought this game on the chinese new year promo, installed it through galaxy, and when trying to play, it crashes after the videos, so I can't get to the main menu. Important points about my setup:
> 4670k
> RX 480 8GB, driver version 17.12.1
> Dual monitor, one is an ultrawide 29UM68, with 75Hz and freesync, and the other is a typical 1080p monitor
What I've tried so far:
> run as admin
> run as admin with compatibility with W7 and XP
> disable fullscreen optimizations
> edited the engine.ini file to add 60 fps as frame limit, and disabled the meshes to remove possible issues with the mesh cache
The default data folder has some dumps (%userprofile%\documents\S2\dumps) and the crashdump.dmp contains data for the crash, namely:
0xC0000005
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
So I assume that this could be an incorrect memory access? I say this since running as an admin does not solve it, so it doesn't feel like a disk access issue. If anyone has any ideas, they are appreciated.
EDIT: Aaaaand it took me a few minutes and apparently it's been solved. Updated driver version to 18.2.1, and installed dxgl. Apparently one of those solved it, as the game is now playable. For future reference, for anyone, always consider DXGL, and drivers.
