Hi guys,

First of all, I went through quite few forums and I could not get a fix for my problem.
I have installed Settlers III on my Windows 7 64 bit - no problems.
When I tried to run the game it was not doing anything.
Double-click on "AUTORUN.EXE" game menu pops up, I click "Start game" and Windows is thinking for approximately 5 seconds and does nothing.
Double-click on "s3.exe" - Windows is thinking for approximately 5 seconds and does nothing.
Changing compatibility to Windows 95 and "run as administrator" does not change anything.
Then I downloaded the patch from German website and installed it.
h t t p : / / webgnom . de / siedler-3-patch-1-60 <= Google translate does the job!
I renamed the "s3.exe" to "Siedler3.exe" and now instead of NOTHING I'm getting an error message window.

"Kernel32 call does not point into KERNEL32.dll.
Virus or incompatible Systemanalyzer detected!
(#3000)"

Wouldn't call it progress...

Any suggestions please?

P.S.
I tried this website, but those links don't take my anywhere...

Some people mention Settlers 3 Win XP patch, but I have no idea where can I find it:/

Hi,
what you're writing looks a lot like you're using an original CD version? Since the game is so old and Ubisoft isn't really willing to support it (I may be wrong, but it certainly looks like it), it is difficult to get hold of all the necessary patches.

If I remember correctly Siedler 3 did not work on multi-core CPUs, at least not without patches. I remember having to switch off one of the two virtual cores of my Pentium 4 HT, back when I still had it. The GoG.com version of Siedler 3 should have the necessary patches applied. At least it works on my 3rd gen i7 with Windows 7 64bit.

The patches should be available on the internet ... Ubisoft tells me that the website is "down for maintenance".

Sorry that I don't have any better news.

This looks like a good tutorial: http://www.krony.de/die-siedler-3-unter-windows-8-7-vista-und-xp-spielen.html You will want Google Translate to make it a bit more readable, I suppose.

By the way: since you wrote that you tried running the game as administrator. I read that a lot here on the forums, but I have to say, that's not a particularly good practice. In fact if you have to run any application as administrator for the sole purpose of getting it running, there's something fundamentally misconfigured in your system. Please take a look at the folder and file permissions in such a case.

getting the kernel error is normal if you followed the procedure on the given webpage. after patching the game up to version 1.60 you have to download another file, it's a patched S3.exe you'll need in order to run the game. download the following file:

http://webgnom.de/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/siedler-3-kompatibilitaets-patch-s3.zip

and extract the S3.exe file to the game directory, overwrite and try again.
